Title: M33, The Pinwheel Galaxy Source: NASA Information: The Pinwheel Galaxy in the constellation Triangulum, a member of the local group of galaxies, is probably the second-closest galaxy to the Milky Way after M31, the Andromeda Galaxy. The portion of the galaxy visible in this image is about 42,000 light years in diameter. There is no red-shift in the spectra of the stars in the Pinwheel, indicating that it is almost stationary in relation to our Milky Way. |
